Our Story
Githerments is an art fashion label inspired by the meaning of its name — an assortment of random and mismatched things. It's a soft rebellion stitched in reclaimed fabric, where slow fashion meets wild joy.
Founded by Louisa and Hannah — sisters in spirit and artisans by trade — Githerments is the blooming love child of years spent circling their obvious path. Both trained in costuming, both drawn to the tactile magic of sewing, they've found in this label a blend of technical skill and creative release. It is the only respite they desire.
From a small studio in rural Queensland, they make garments that are poetic, practical and deeply personal. Each piece is a voice, a spell, a story — inviting adventure, honouring memory, and celebrating the rhythms of slow fashion.
Our Core Values
-
1. Stories are worth keeping.
By transforming reclaimed textiles into clothing, we honour their past while creating space for new stories to unfold. Allowing them to gather soul with age.
-
2. Care is a quiet act of rebellion.
Beauty and ethics belong
together — that care is a form of protest. We choose repair, patience, and longevity. -
3. Creativity belongs to everyone
We create clothes that invite play, expression, and personal storytelling. Each piece is a celebration of what endures: stories, memory, and meaning.
Core Range
Everyday Heirlooms
Beloved silhouettes, endless possibilities.
Made to order from reclaimed fabrics, each one carrying its own story forward.
One-of-a-Kind
Never to be repeated
Born from rare finds — a forgotten print, a
vintage silk, a single remnant. Made once, never again. Each piece is
photographed and archived on our website: a living gallery of transformation.
Commissions
Made with you, for you
You might bring a childhood quilt, a shirt from someone dear, or simply a feeling you want to wear. Together, we'll shape it into a garment that fits your story, your budget, and your life.
This is slow fashion at its most intimate — a conversation in cloth, a collaboration in care.

What we're working on
We're always looking for better, more sustainable packaging and shipping options. We want to partner with ethical Australian suppliers — and stay responsive to new eco innovations as they emerge.
Our Approach to AI
At Githerments, technology supports the craft, but never replaces it.
Every garment is designed, cut, sewn, and finished by human hands. We may use AI to help organise information, draft content, analyse data, and improve the accessibility of our website, but all creative decisions remain our own.
We believe the story we tell should match the garment we sew. We do not use AI to create false testimonials, misrepresent our materials, or replace transparency with convenience.
When we use technology, it is for one purpose: to reclaim more time for making. If a tool does not support creativity, craftsmanship, and integrity, it does not belong in our process.
The hands that make your clothes will always be human.
Honest caveat
True sustainability is an ongoing process. Many eco-friendly alternatives are designed for large-scale production and can be costly for small makers. We're not perfect — but as a core value, we're always making thoughtful choices.
If you have ideas or know of innovative solutions, we'd love to hear from you.
